The Forest is an open-world survival horror game from Endnight Games where the survivor of a passenger plane crash must stay alive on an island inhabited by cannibalistic mutants. Players gather food and materials, craft weapons and tools, build anything from a small shelter to a fortified base, explore an extensive cave network, and gradually uncover the mystery behind the island and the disappearance of the protagonist’s son.
It is best suited to players who enjoy survival, exploration, building, and horror that becomes more threatening as they venture underground. The game can be experienced solo or cooperatively, with PC supporting larger groups than PlayStation. Working together makes gathering and construction easier, but dark caves, hostile enemies, and limited supplies keep exploration tense.
