XCOM: Enemy Unknown
A turn-based squad tactics game with a base to run between alien-fighting missions.
It remakes the 1994 strategy game UFO: Enemy Unknown, with you leading soldiers against alien forces, using cover, positioning and each class's abilities, and with the risk that anyone who falls is gone for good. Between missions you manage a home base: studying recovered alien technology, constructing facilities, balancing the budget and picking which crises worldwide to answer, all to stop member nations from pulling out. Firaxis Games developed it; solo play is the focus, with multiplayer also on offer.
